🚌 BUS ROUTE NAVIGATOR (DEMO)

A practical navigation tool for urban bus fleets

What is Bus Route Navigator?

Bus Route Navigator is a driver-focused navigation tool that uses official Translink General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) data to present bus routes as a moving map-to-route, not much different than a standard car navigation system, albeit, with route specific mapping.

It highlights the route path, all stops, and the distance between stops, so drivers can confidently run unfamiliar trips, cover work at short notice and avoid off-route driving.

Why it matters for operators

Reduced route training time

Drivers can safely cover routes they have never driven before. The Navigator:

Fewer calls to NCC / Bus Control

Because drivers can see the intended path and all stops at a glance, they are far less likely to become unsure of the route or need to call for assistance.

Prevents off-route driving

Wrong turns, dead-end streets and unnecessary detours are minimised because the system always shows the correct path and upcoming stops.

What screen does it work on?

Bus Route Navigator requires Internet capability, either via Wi-Fi, or SIM.

The commonly used Handheld ALGIZ 8X has provision for both, however, any 8", or higher, screen with an installed web browser, will run the Navigator in real time.

What routes does it work with?

Bus Route Navigator works with all Translink Queensland routes from Cairns to the Gold Coast.

GTFS data is updated regularly, maintaining consistently accurate routes for all Translink branded fleets.

Includes school/district routes for Transport for Brisbane.

Support for all driver types

Bus Route Navigator is particularly useful for:

It reduces stress and gives every driver the confidence of a regular on that route, even if they have never driven it before.

Operational reliability

Built for the real world

The system is based on official Translink GTFS data and is designed to evolve with future features, such as closer GPS integration and route variations.
